Regular activity can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and other conditions common to older adults. Eat foods that will help boost your energy to make those activities more fun for you and your companions. Aim for a balance of protein, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and vitamins and minerals to keep you going strong. You can get these from lean meats, dairy, eggs, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables. Strive to eat all of these every day, and you’ll be glad you did.
With the average life expectation at around 80 and rising, you have a long life ahead of you. You could spend your remaining years at home, exhausted and weak. Or, you could go out and participate in life, creating wonderful memories with friends and family. The choice is yours. Good diet decisions now will make the latter much easier to achieve.
