Being 40 means new body changes, many years of stories behind you, and many more ahead to live. Let’s just face it, shall we? The 4 decades. Because you’ve made it this far, because you still have lots of years of experience to look forward to.
Mirror, mirror on the wall… Who’s the fairest of them all?
Almost every woman who’s about to blow those 40 candles has felt this at least once. All of a sudden, the whole weight of the word “old” falls on you like a heavy load. A few wrinkles here and there along with some grey hairs that keeping appearing “out of nowhere”. The much feared extra pounds are also part of the package. Not to mention the sudden hots and colds that just never gave you a heads up.
It’s All About The Attitude
However, just like with any other age, being 40 is about attitude. In the end, it really is about learning how to deal with every new challenge with your head held high and proud, knowing exactly who you are and that nothing can take that away from you. While some women live their four decades sadly reminiscing what life was like before kids, mortgages and menopause, we encourage you to look back and acknowledge what you have accomplished. Mistakes have been made, but at 40 everything becomes a lot clearer.
You know what exactly what you want and what you want to avoid, as well. It’s the age where you realize personal happiness is no longer something that needs negotiating. And yes, you find true happiness in helping others rather than comparing yourself with other females of your same age.
Of course, there will be days when you wake up and a swarm of questions and doubts haunts you like a beehive: what happened to the woman I dreamed of being at age 16? How did I get to where I am? Reality might be a little painful to accept at first, but remember this: you are alive. You may have survived a near-to-death experience. Your body might not be as fully active as it was 20 years ago. But one of the cool things about being in your 40s is that you’ve done it all. Life doesn’t end! Very much on the contrary, it’s just getting started!
Some women choose to become mothers at this age, others run their own companies. Others travel. Ultimately, your journey is still unique. No one can tell you what the risks are because you’ve already lived them. Time to enjoy every day and share your wisdom with ladies who still think age really is a limitation. They need to know that, after all, age really is just a number.
